BRIDGE LIVE IP can take independent SMPTE ST 2110 source inputs and maintain their synchronous relationship while transporting the content to end-point destinations.
This functionality can take place between a pair of BRIDGE LIVE IP units for a synchronous end-to-end ST 2110 workflow. BRIDGE LIVE IP’s synchronous multi-channel capability is also supported for cloud contribution, whereby a BRIDGE LIVE IP system can send to a cloud instance of Comprimato Live Transcoder software for delivery to various platforms / cloud services as IP video.
For site-to-site SMPTE ST 2110 workflows, BRIDGE LIVE IP’s bidirectional functionality enables it to simultaneously function as an encoder and a decoder. Consequently, references to “BRIDGE LIVE IP Tx” or “BRIDGE LIVE IP Rx” solely describe their status rather than referring to products that support only encoding or decoding, necessitating the purchase of multiple devices.
BRIDGE LIVE IP Synchronous Multi-Channel Transport functionality provides an easy and repeatable way to ensure synchronous ST 2110 video sources can be fed to an encoding BRIDGE LIVE IP Tx, then be timestamped, transported, and ultimately output from the decoding BRIDGE LIVE IP Rx with each ST 2110 signal in lockstep with each other.
Synchronous Multi-Channel Transport can be scaled up from a single BRIDGE LIVE IP pair to additional BRIDGE LIVE IP pairs to enable workflows where multiple BRIDGE LIVE IP systems can receive ST 2110 and send it to multiple BRIDGE LIVE IP systems outputting ST 2110, all in synchronicity.
One-to-One HD x8 over Internet: Upstream BRIDGE LIVE IP has 8x HD ST 2110 inputs (Switcher PGM/PVW, 4 cameras). MPEG-TS/SRT is sent over the internet to a downstream BRIDGE LIVE IP in the Media facility.
Two BRIDGE LIVE IP units in Tx mode, sending to two BRIDGE LIVE IPs units in Rx mode, preserves synchronicity across 4x UHD streams.
When deploying a Many-to-Many scenario, the required PTP supplied to all of the BRIDGE LIVE IPs, provides the clocking necessary to maintain synchronicity across multiple Tx and Rx BRIDGE LIVE IPs.
One BRIDGE LIVE IP operating as Tx (Transmit, ST 2110 encoder) and two or more BRIDGE LIVE IPs operating as Rx (Receive, ST 2110 decoders) can preserve end-to-end synchronicity between up to 4x UHD or 16x HD sources from BRIDGE LIVE IP which are being received and decoded by multiple BRIDGE LIVE IPs as Rx units.
In this case, the multiple BRIDGE LIVE IPs operating as Rx systems could be located in separate locations, all receiving the same content simultaneously.
For example, the ST 2110 outputs could be available for ingest to storage at one location while being broadcast live via a switcher in a separate location.
For broadcast, BRIDGE LIVE IP provides an efficient mechanism for backhauling remote live SMPTE ST 2110 video sources to the media production facility, where they are converted back to ST 2110 and made available on the internal facility's ST 2110 router for ongoing production/transmission.
Traditional secure lines for remote production can be very expensive, with additional fees charged for time before and after production starts and ends. BRIDGE LIVE IP allows source cameras and local programs to be transported using publicly available internet, with no penalty for early or extended use during production. BRIDGE LIVE IP also offers lower latency than traditional secure lines for time-critical productions. Integrated SRT provides secure and reliable transport over the web.
BRIDGE LIVE IP supports workflows where it is necessary to receive contribution streams from various third-party encoders, IP cameras, or AJA HELO Plus for conversion to SMPTE ST 2110 at a production facility.
For example, BRIDGE LIVE IP could receive UDP or HLS from AJA HELO Plus, SRT from a camera or encoder, NDI from AJA BRIDGE NDI or from software such as an NLE.
Production and Post: BRIDGE LIVE IP connects remote artists and clients using reference-quality video, providing a high-quality window into production for those who cannot be on-site. This enables creative talent to collaborate remotely with reference-quality video, while ensuring that media and equipment are securely stored and managed at the secure facility.
BRIDGE LIVE IP complements existing GUI driving technologies (e.g., RDP, Teradici) by layering on the reference quality video needed for creative confidence and client/executive sign-off. Choices between H.265, H.264, H.262, or via optional licenses for NDI*, JPEG 2000 * and JPEG XS *, means there flexibility in how to approach your needs for quality and latency.
*(NDI, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS require optional licenses available from AJA)
BRIDGE LIVE IP can be used to connect two geographically separated production teams via the public internet. For example, a studio or event location could send feeds from multiple NDI devices, such as cameras and switchers, to a hybrid production or post facility, which can distribute those sources as both NDI and ST 2110 while also returning program feedback to the studio location. SRT provides secure and reliable transport.
BRIDGE LIVE IP offers a comprehensive platform for live video streaming. Streaming support includes SRT, HLS, RTMP/S, RTP/UDP, and MPEG-TS. These standard streaming protocols provide wide support for services such as Twitch, YouTube Live, and Facebook Live.
BRIDGE LIVE IP offers flexibility for multiple inputs, supports a broad range of formats and bit rates, as well as metadata and redundancy.
BRIDGE LIVE IP can simultaneously deliver different stream types to partners for direct-to-audience delivery while streaming to CDNs. Partners can then retransmit, transcode, or store these streams.
For studios and broadcast applications, BRIDGE LIVE IP facilitates the primary distribution of finished and mastered content to partners for subsequent streaming to audiences.
BRIDGE LIVE IP can provide ABR (Adaptive Bit Rate) ladder profiles or hand-offs for OTT packaging. For example, encoding to H.264 for hand-off with ABR ladder profiles, including pointing the ladder profile directly to a local packager or CDN.
BRIDGE LIVE IP can also provide multi-format/rate/bit rate material via HLS. The combined outputs within the HLS stream are presented as a “playlist,” meaning that devices (e.g., phones or tablets) or software (e.g., web browsers) can select a particular format, frame rate, and bit rate based on device characteristics and connectivity.
Telcos, IPTV, and cable operators are often presented with an SMPTE ST 2110 source or a live event or live production, which is needed as a simple MPEG-Transport Stream with an H.264 encode. The delivered stream may be required for further processing (storage, production) or streamed directly to an IPTV/Cable network.
