The AJA IP25-R is a next-generation IP Converter that seamlessly bridges SMPTE ST 2110 IP media networks and traditional SDI baseband and HDMI infrastructures. Just introduced, free v2.0 firmware doubles the functionality of this conversion powerhouse by now offering bi-directional conversions via the all-new Tx (Transmit) mode. Additionally, v2.0 firmware also expands the Rx (Receive) mode from 4 to 6 streams of ST 2110 IP video. Audio grouping modes have been expanded to now include 1x16, 2x8 and 4x4 streams, to ensure compatibility across various infrastructures.
Built for demanding IP production environments, the IP25-R offers powerful conversion capabilities with full SMPTE compliance, making it ideal for integration into hybrid SDI/IP facilities. De-encapsulate ST 2110 video, audio, and ancillary data and output them via baseband SDI and HDMI for confidence monitoring, playout, or routing via the Rx mode. The Tx mode supports 4 SDI inputs up to 12G-SDI and converts them to ST 2110 with frame-accurate synchronization, giving you the ultimate flexibility in a compact, robust 2110 conversion device.
Engineered for professional broadcast, production, and live event workflows, the IP25-R offers dual 10/25 GigE SFP cages, 4x 12G-SDI BNC Bi-directional ports, and 2x HDMI 2.0 outputs, delivering pristine video up to 4K DCI (4096x2160p60) with ultra-low latency. The IP25-R dual SFP28 cages provide ST 2022-7 seamless protection switching, ensuring uninterrupted signal delivery across redundant IP networks. This makes the IP25-R an ideal choice for critical applications such as network operations centers (NOCs), OB trucks and remote production, live events, stadium and in-venue AV systems, and broadcast control rooms.
Configure the IP25-R through an intuitive web browser interface, with options for both in-band control over the media network and out-of-band control via the RJ45
1 GigE port. This simplifies deployment in almost any IP infrastructure. The IP25-R also offers a host of 2110 configuration and troubleshooting tools, making it an indispensable part of your operation.
Whether you're upgrading broadcast infrastructure, or bridging the SDI and 2110 worlds, the IP25-R offers a reliable, compact, and standards-compliant solution for ST 2110 IP and baseband conversions. Perfect for facilities moving to IP workflows while maintaining SDI/HDMI compatibility.
Learn how the IP25-R delivers low-latency, broadcast quality SMPTE ST 2110 IP-to-SDI/HDMI conversion. See real workflows, system integration examples, and more.
The IP25-R is housed in a durable aluminum enclosure, ideal for both portable “throw-down” use and high-density rackmount installations. Up to three units can be mounted side-by-side in a single 1RU shelf—perfect for space-constrained environments. With AJA’s DRM2-Plus 3RU rackmount frame, redundant power can be provided for up to six IP25-Rs!
For fast setup, the front-facing USB-C port supports AJA’s free eMini-Setup application for easy initial network configuration. Multicast setup, internal routing, and output specific functions are accessed via the WebUI. Designed with active front-to-back cooling, the IP25-R ensures reliable, long-term performance in demanding broadcast and production locations.
The IP25-R features a built-in web server that hosts a user-friendly, browser-based interface (WebUI) for easy configuration and control. Through the intuitive WebUI, users can quickly set up IP parameters, manage PTP synchronization, configure external control options, and monitor the video being fed to the outputs.
The interface also allows for flexible signal routing, enabling you to assign any of the six ST 2110 Rx inputs to specific SDI or HDMI outputs. You can also assign any of the 4 Tx inputs to specific 2110 streams. Additionally, users can fine-tune HDR metadata and colorimetry settings, as well as replicate output routing internally, making the IP25-R a powerful tool for IP-to-baseband monitoring and signal management.
The IP25-R now supports SDI to ST 2110 (Tx) signal conversion. You can convert up to 4x SDI signals into ST 2110 with support up to 12G-SDI, making this device the most flexible converter on the market. To ensure the signal integrity of the baseband to IP conversion, each ST 2110 and HDMI output has an optional Frame Sync with delay capability to ensure signals arrive when they are supposed to. When the ‘Timing’ slider is enabled, Frame Sync is activated and when the ‘Timing' button is selected, the Configure tab on the right will show the status and functions. ‘Input To Output Delay’ shows the input routed to the selected output pipeline. It also shows the input timing offset, relative to PTP. This is presented as H+V time, Frame Time, and Total Time (in ms).
The IP25-R is not only a standout performer when it comes to video processing and configuration but also includes powerful audio capabilities to ensure maximum flexibility in production situations.
Audio Mapping:
New in v2.0 firmware is the ability to provide multi-audio stream mapping per video channel, supporting options between 1x16, 2x8, and 4x4 for interoperability with industry standard audio configurations. Also, ‘Audio Follows Video’ is now enabled by default for ease of use.
Audio Delay:
The IP25-R provides adjustment of audio timing in ms. When video is delayed, the same delay is applied to audio and presented as 0ms. 0ms delay is in relation to the video.
Beyond conversions, the IP25-R includes a robust set of tools for configuring and troubleshooting SMPTE ST 2110 networks. IP25-R helps you deploy, verify, and troubleshoot ST 2110 faster — often without needing a separate probe just to answer basic setup and maintenance questions.
Each ST 2110 output can have an individual test signal enabled and set. This provides the capability to generate up to 4 individual ST 2110 test signals (bars, flat field, black, etc) with the option to enable a 1KHz tone as well. These signal generators are important tools for setting up and checking ST 2110 signal paths. The test pattern includes an optional on-screen overlay with the device hostname, time-of-day, and RJ45 control IP address, so the video output becomes a live “label” for the unit. If the WebUI isn’t reachable, and you need to start your network setup or troubleshooting, you can double-press the reset button to toggle the test pattern on, then double-press again to return to normal output.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) dramatically improves image quality by delivering richer colors, brighter highlights, and deeper blacks compared to standard dynamic range (SDR) signals. This results in more vibrant, true-to-life visuals, ensuring your audience experiences content as it was intended.
The IP25-R supports advanced HDR metadata handling, including SDI VPID and HDMI Infoframe signaling, making it ideal for modern HDR workflows. It simplifies the complexities of HDR integration by allowing HDR passthrough with metadata override to accurately map HDR metadata to all outputs.
This functionality ensures your IP-baseband conversion meets today’s HDR delivery requirements, whether for live production, broadcast, or postproduction environments.
In this workflow, you see the new Tx mode whereby 4 HDR HD-SDI camera feeds are simultaneously converted to SMPTE ST 2110. The local HDMI ports can be used for confidence monitoring of the camera feeds.
In this IP-based stadium example, live camera feeds and the video switcher connect to redundant SMPTE ST 2110 network switches, which deliver synchronized IP video, audio, and metadata directly into the IP25-R's dual SFP inputs for seamless ST 2110 reception and conversion.
2x HDMI 2.0 outputs feed directly to 2x HDMI monitors, up to 4K 4096x2160p.
SDI 1 output feeds in the AJA ColorBox (or OG-ColorBox) for color verification. The ColorBox then distributes the signal via SDI and HDMI to monitors.
SDI 2, 3, and 4 outputs directly to SDI monitors.
The IP25-R enables seamless conversion of uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 UHDp60 (3840x2160) video to your existing on-site SDI infrastructure.
