Is it possible to send a SMPTE 2110 signal direct (point-to-point) from a KONA IP to an IPR-10G-HDMI without using a switch?

Category: FAQ

Released: 2019-04-10

For any critical production work, you will need to use a switch. A switch is also required in order to take advantage of SDP, multicast and/or routing transmission data to multiple destinations.

For initial setup/testing, you do not necessarily have to use a switch, as connections can be made point-to-point. However, without a PTP clock, there is no way to ensure lock. Baseband signals may appear miss aligned or intermittent.
