Component Engineer


Component Engineer – Grass Valley

Working with both the engineering and operations departments, assists engineers with component selection and assists procurement in sourcing and quoting electronic components. Manages the Product Lifecycle (PLM) system.

Requirements:

  • Assist engineering with component selection.
  • Build out component AVLs.
  • Perform cost analysis on BOMs and provide alternative component sources to reduce overall BOM costs.
  • Define corporate standards for component descriptions and ensure new any existing components meet the standard.
  • Assist in defining the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. This includes coordinating the subcontractors and inside employees during the implementation phase of the PLM and managing data entered into the PLM. Assist procurement in sourcing and quoting electronic components.
  • Resolve EEE (Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical) component procurement and screening problems in a timely fashion.
  • Manage component lifecycle, working with purchasing to locate alternate component sources, and minimize last time buys.
  • Focal point for all component failure analysis and drives supplier corrective action activities to closure.
  • Support RoHS and other environmental regulatory activities associated to component level.
  • Assist with Export Commodity control at the component level.
  • Assist in reducing installed component costs.
  • Provide PLM training and guidance to all functional groups—marketing, sales, engineering, and manufacturing.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of components used in AJA product lines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Experienced with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, preferably Omnify.
  • Willingness to undertake a variety of assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with engineers, managers, other employees and outside vendors.
  • Willingness to adhere to company policies and support management decisions and goals in a positive and professional manner.
  • BS Degree with 5 years experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits. The base salary for this position is $89,751-123,408. This range reflects base salary only, and does not include additional compensation or benefits. Individual base pay is determined by various factors such as relevant experience, education, training and skills, and the scope and responsibilities of the position.
