The migration from SDI (Serial Digital Interface) baseband video to IP (Internet Protocol) video is moving ahead at a rapid pace and only accelerating, and AJA is here to help. The continuous growth of IP transmission options provides users with an increasing variety of reasons to consider moving to IP, such as leveraging existing IP infrastructure, lower cost components compared to baseband infrastructure, and ease of set-up and expansion.

AJA provides a wide range of products designed for the encode, decode, transcode, and transport of IP video, audio, and metadata. Whether you are looking for cinema quality, uncompressed, or compressed solutions, AJA IP video and audio products offer a number of choices to meet your needs. AJA’s IP technologies support workflow solutions across a range of protocols, such as NDI, Dante AV, the SMPTE ST 2110 suite, and ST 2022-7 hitless redundancy, to ensure we are ready for your IP needs.

NDI provides a cost effective solution to transmit up to 4K on a single 1 GigE network interface. There has been tremendous acceptance of NDI in the ProAV market and it’s now expanding into broadcast environments. NDI has been designed to be usable on simple networks and is easy to get started, as there are no unique timing requirements to support NDI transmission. In higher bandwidth and more complex systems it is advisable to use a managed network switch.

Dante AV works on a 1 GigE network and requires a managed switch. The signal is synchronized by a master clock that is designated by a lead device on the Dante Network. Dante AV leverages the workflow and software from the very popular Dante IP audio standard.

SMPTE ST 2110 requires the most complex network since it is considered the IP replacement for SDI quality. Not only must every IP packet be delivered to maintain SDI quality video; perfect timing is also a necessity to ensure clean switching between sources. The timing clock is SMPTE 2059-2, which is a variation of PTP (Precision Time Protocol). An ST 2110 network requires PTP aware switches, which are fed ST 2059-2 from a grandmaster clock, typically locked to GPS.

AJA supports a variety of codecs to meet different use cases such as education, corporate, and large scale live sporting events, with solutions from low bandwidth and variable delivery time, to ultra high quality with minimal latency for medical applications. By offering industry standard codecs, such as JPEG XS (VSF-TR 07), JPEG 2000 (VSF-TR 01), MPEG-2, H.264, HEVC/H.265, and an internet facing SRT transport available, AJA delivers the products demanded by the industry.

Dante AV

Dante AV

Dante AV is a protocol developed by Audinate that enables IP video applications over existing 1 GigE networks. AJA offers Dante AV Ultra 4K transmitters and receivers with high quality JPEG 2000 encoding suitable for broadcast, live events, eSports, house of worship, corporate and sports events.

The Dante AV 4K-T and 4K-R encode and decode video and audio streams into the Dante AV Ultra IP video protocol which simplifies AV signal delivery while providing an efficient way to transmit video and audio synchronized signals with ultra-low latency between a wide range of devices.

Complex networks are easy to manage with easy to use configuration and control software for Windows and macOS including Dante Controller and Dante Studio from Audinate.

For Dante IP audio conversion, the OG-DANTE-12GAM is a flexible openGear card which supports 64-channels of simultaneous Dante IP audio embedding and disembedding.


NDI

NDI

Network Device Interface (NDI) is a royalty free standard IP video protocol. NDI is easy to implement in a range of applications like ProAV, eSports, broadcast, and streaming. It allows users to easily connect various types of devices including LED displays, cameras, computers and more via a NDI network for real time content sharing and delivery. In addition to providing audio and video support, NDI also works across multi-site locations featuring low latency transmission between multiple devices on the same network.

BRIDGE NDI 3G is a high-density NDI gateway for reliable conversion to and from SDI and NDI, allowing reception and delivery simultaneously and up to 16-channels of 4K/UHD/HD/SD video transport.

BRIDGE LIVE extends the reach of protocols and streaming options further with real time IP video transcoding between UHD/HD/SD SDI, NDI, H.265, H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and optional JPEG 2000 and JPEG XS; includes the security and reliability of SRT and protocol support for UDP, HLS, RTP, RTMP/S over 10 GigE network connections.

Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) is an open source framework that optimizes the transmission of media over IP networks using advanced internet technologies such as UDP (User Datagram Protocol).

This ensures superior quality streams even when bandwidth or latency is not ideal – something that can be especially helpful in remote working scenarios or live events where reliable connectivity isn't always guaranteed but high quality streams need to be delivered quickly.

SMPTE ST 2110 enables audio embedding and disembedding and wide compatibility with Broadcast IP networks. For IPT Mini-Converters, this ST 2110 support extends to:
