AJA Announces ColorBox Third-Party Integration Partners Including Assimilate, CyanView, Pomfort, and SKAARHOJ

September 1, 2022

Grass Valley, CA (September 1, 2022) – AJA today debuted ColorBox, a portable, high-performance device with unprecedented inline algorithmic color transforms and LUT processing capabilities delivering precise and accurate color space conversions for live broadcast, live events, on-set production and post production. Upon launch, AJA announced third-party integration partners including Assimilate, CyanView, Pomfort, and SKAARHOJ. ColorBox enables a range of HDR and SDR conversions and allows DITs to easily load, modify and save looks, and capture reference images for dailies to ensure color accuracy across all production stakeholders and creative vendors.

“The level of engineering that went into creating ColorBox is incredibly ambitious, and we’re excited to deliver a device with such robust image processing capabilities,” said AJA President, Nick Rashby. “We’re especially thrilled to announce these industry-leading partners on board out of the gate who are working with us to support next generation production workflows.”

ColorBox Integration Highlights
Featuring a robust application programming interface (API), ColorBox seamlessly integrates with third-party solutions from Assimilate and Pomfort for on-set look management. It’s also compatible with tactile hardware-based control surface solutions from Skaarhoj and CyanView.  For more information about how you can integrate control of AJA’s ColorBox visit the product support page and download the developer tools today.

Assimilate and AJA have teamed to deliver ColorBox support for Assimilate’s Live Looks live grading solution and Live Assist video assist software. Mazze Aderhold, Chief strategic workflow engineer at Assimilate, shares “AJA ColorBox takes LUT boxes to a whole new level, providing sophisticated color pipeline setups unlike anything we’ve seen before. Professionals can use ColorBox to combine multiple LUTs and color matrices to ensure their desired look with an intuitive web UI that makes it easy to operate. We’re proud to continue advancing on-set look management workflows with Live Looks and Live Assist support for ColorBox.”

Pomfort’s Livegrade Studio and Livegrade Pro are amongst the most comprehensive digital color imaging applications for demanding film productions, tying together all aspects of technical monitoring and creative visualization on a film set. Livegrade Studio and Pro software solutions provide look management on-set and beyond, supporting various camera workflows and setups. Patrick Renner, Head of Product at Pomfort, added, “AJA's ColorBox enables us to support Dynamic LUTs in AJA Color Pipeline Mode and utilize ColorBox’s SDI and HDMI outputs, enabling real-time adjustments from Livegrade to be part of the processing pipeline boosting image quality and accelerating workflow throughput.”

CyanView RCP combines multiple integrations to provide a seamless hardware interface similar to a typical broadcast workflow, and ColorBox support for the technology gives users more tactile control over these functions in AJA Color Pipeline Mode, as well as in BBC HLG LUT and NBCU LUT pipelines that include a Color Corrector and Proc Amp. David Bourgeois, CEO & Founder, CyanView, explains, “When producing live events, camera shading is often combined with live post-processing adjustments, and AJA ColorBox provides a flexible hardware processing solution with nodes that ensure accurate mappings as multiple camera types and brands are implemented, and unprecedented color fidelity for live and post production HDR/SDR workflows. CyanView RCP’s intuitive control panel buttons combined with the color accuracy of ColorBox make it easy for the operator to complete post-process adjustments as efficiently as if they were done in camera.”

SKAARHOJ RCP broadcast controllers with products including RCP Pro, RCPV2 (any flavor), Rack Control Duo, Rack Control Uno (1U), Inline 10, Inline 22, PTZ Fly/Pro/Extreme, MKA1 and MKA2 integrate with AJA ColorBox to unlock powerful ColorBox workflows that work seamlessly alongside ordinary camera controls and enable ganged control of multiple ColorBox devices from a single rack mounted control panel. SKAARHOJ CEO, Founder and Chief Designer Kasper Skårhøj, says, “SKAARHOJ is excited to integrate AJA ColorBox with our RCP broadcast controllers and Blue Pill platform. Together, these solutions will support best practices out of the box and enable endless color control possibilities.”
