FS1 Supports Input/Output for all HD and SD Video Formats.

Amsterdam, Netherlands-IBC Conference - AJA Video, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, today released the FS1 converter supporting virtually any video input or output in HD or SD for professional video post and broadcast environments.

"As a system designer for large facilities, we frequently need to provide signal transmission distribution to simultaneously accommodate SD and HD, as well as analog formats. The FS1 delivers all this and more at a price point that is incredibly cost-effective-significantly less than competitive solutions," said Truett "Butch" Smith, President, Media Broadcast Integration and Technical Services (M/BITS). "The FS1 is so flexible that it usually takes a minimum of 2-4 conventional format converters to accomplish what the FS1 can do in one box."

The FS1 is a universal HD and SD, audio and video frame synchronizer and converter. With an extremely flexible architecture, the FS1 can simultaneously support both HD and SD video-all in full 10-bit broadcast quality video and 24-bit audio. The FS1 supports virtually any input or output as analog or digital, HD or SD. This product can up-convert or down-convert between SD and HD while providing simultaneous outputs of both formats, and supports both closed captioning and closed captioning conversions between SD and HD formats. FS1 also includes 10-bit HD to HD cross-conversion for 1080 and 720 formats. For audio, the FS1 supports 8-channel AES, balanced analog or embedded audio with full flexibility. The FS1 is also network ready, supporting SNMP monitoring and web-based remote control.

"When we first saw the FS1 converter, we knew it was a must-have," commented Bill McKechney, Vice President of Engineering at F & F Productions. "We received 10 of them to use in our outdoor broadcast trucks just in time for a major high-profile sporting event, and I was very impressed with both the out-of-the-box functionality and ease of operation using front panel controls. Once again, AJA products deliver what they promise." Upon launch, AJA has already sold several FS1 converters, delivering multiple units to M/BITS in Nashville, Tennessee and mobile television truck company F&F Productions in Clearwater, Florida.

"There has been so much anticipation for the FS1 to come to market since we first introduced it at NAB this year," said Karen Holt, Converter Sales Manager, AJA. "We're very excited to make it available to our valuable converter customers. FS1 delivers unprecedented support and offers huge advantages for their multi-format video and audio environments."

AJA is demonstrating the FS1 at IBC 2007 at the RAI Convention Center in Amsterdam in Hall 7, Stand 610. FS1 has a US MSRP of $3990.00.
