The Senior Hardware Engineering Manager leads AJA's hardware engineering team in the development of innovative products from concept through production. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure engineering teams deliver high-quality products on schedule.
Working closely with Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing, Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Purchasing, the Senior Hardware Engineering Manager translates product requirements into executable engineering plans, manages team priorities, and removes barriers to successful execution.
The Senior Hardware Engineering Manager remains actively engaged with the engineering team by participating in architecture discussions, design reviews, and key technical decisions while providing day-to-day leadership and mentoring.
Requirements:
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop AJA's hardware engineering team.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain talented engineers through coaching, career development, and regular performance feedback.
- Establish team goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with departmental and company objectives.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and technically strong engineering culture.
Engineering Execution
- Manage hardware development projects from concept through production and sustaining engineering.
- Coordinate engineering activities across multiple concurrent projects.
- Identify technical and schedule risks early and develop mitigation plans.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, schedule, performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost objectives.
- Work with engineering leadership to prioritize resources and balance workloads across projects.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and guidance for complex engineering challenges.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, technical tradeoff discussions, and critical engineering decisions.
- Support technical leads while empowering engineers to take ownership of design implementation.
- Promote engineering best practices, including design verification, validation, and Design for Manufacturability/Assembly/Test/Reliability (DFx).
- Ensure engineering documentation, design methodologies, and development processes are consistently followed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Management to translate product requirements into engineering plans and schedules.
- Collaborate with Project Management to coordinate project execution and resolve cross-functional issues.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality Assurance to ensure successful product introduction and ongoing product support.
- Communicate engineering progress, technical risks, and resource needs to engineering leadership and other stakeholders.
Operational Leadership
- Support continuous improvement of engineering processes to improve quality, efficiency, and predictability.
- Track engineering metrics and project status to support informed decision-making.
- Assist with supplier evaluations, component selection, manufacturing support, and customer technical discussions as needed.
- Support departmental planning, budgeting, and capital equipment needs.

Education and Experience:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- M.S. in Engineering or a master’s degree in engineering management or business administration preferred.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible hardware engineering experience.
- 3–5+ years of experience leading or managing hardware engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of hardware design, verification, manufacturing, and product lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex electronic products from concept through production.
- Experience mentoring engineers and building high-performing technical teams.
- Strong project planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of hardware regulatory compliance requirements, including EMC, safety, and environmental standards.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits. The base salary for this position is $175,702-$241,590. This range reflects base salary only, and does not include additional compensation or benefits. Individual base pay is determined by various factors such as relevant experience, education, training and skills, and the scope and responsibilities of the position.
