Art Director – Grass Valley

Working closely with the President/CMO, the Art Director is responsible for the creative design, development and implementation of visual marketing materials for all AJA marketing and corporate identity. Acts as the lead designer, bringing a hands-on approach to exciting new visual ideas and plans. Maintains a consistent and coherent brand identity across all deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Design and manage implementation of visual communication and brand standards, including all marketing material such as the website, ads, brochures, product packaging, and trade show graphics.
  • Lead and direct the work, performance and professional development of creative teams including designers, illustrators, art directors, photographers and web developers.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Project Manager on team prioritization, scheduling, and tasking.
  • Manage outside creative vendors and outside contractors, as requested. Approve media and design contracts as well as approval of invoices from relevant outside contractors.
  • Manage production requirements and all creative activities from concept to completion to produce successful and effective material within established deadline.
  • Interact with various internal departments to maintain communication and standards to ensure that current marketing efforts are on track throughout projects.
  • Conduct meetings as necessary to successfully complete projects.
  • Establish consistency in workflows and processes; identify process improvements and provide solutions to resolve any operational problems.
  • Provide strategic guidance and inspire great work from creative resources.
  • Evaluate results of creative team efforts and propose solutions for future projects.
  • Active involvement in hiring and training creative staff.
  • May be asked to attend domestic and/or international trade shows on an occasional basis.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of advertising principles, strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams to accomplish objectives.
  • Resourceful in solving problems.
  • Must possess excellent people skills and an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong project management skills, keen attention to detail, and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a high level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge, Acrobat, etc.) As well as strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and advanced Mac/PC knowledge.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Must be willing to organize and lead the creative team, as well as jump in on the day-to-day work of packaging, digital and collateral design for the various product lines, as needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Represents the Company with a high level of integrity, sound judgement, and professionalism.
  • Willingness to adhere to company policies and support management decisions and goals with a positive, constructive attitude.
  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years experience in a related technical industry as an Art Director.
  • Strong knowledge and proven track record in marketing production processes.
  • Compelling design sense, and how to apply that to achieve a specific goal.

This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits. The base salary for this position is $92,444 - $127,111. This range reflects base salary only, and does not include additional compensation or benefits. Individual base pay is determined by various factors such as relevant experience, education, training and skills, and the scope and responsibilities of the position.
