Note about the "Limit Output to Legal Levels Only" checkbox in the Kona Control Panel's Setup tab:
This limiter clips values that go above or below SMPTE black and white levels. For SD and HD video, this means that the limits of the video are defined by values between 16-235 for 8 bit and between 64-940 for 10 bit. Users should be aware that since these limits are actually more restrictive than broadcast specifications, values that exceed white in the above specifications will be clipped. Any color values that exceed these limits will also be clipped and may appear to shift. The "Limit Output to Legal Values Only" function should not be seen as a substitute for SD or HD footage being properly brought to broadcast specifications by tasks such as gamma correction or color correction. Also of note: the limiter does not guarantee that a limited SDI signal will then generate a legal composite signal from a device receiving the SDI signal.
