KONA 3 / 3X Drivers Version 5, Control Panel, and Notes

This release updates the KONA 3/3X to have OSX "Leopard" compatibility. The release also adds support for 720p50 and provides other improvements and fixes.
AJA Driver Compatibility as of KONA Version 5.0 is as follows:
FCP 6.0.x - Kona Driver version 5.0 (Leopard and Tiger OS compatible version)
FCP 6.0.x - Kona Driver version 4.0 (Tiger OS compatible version)
FCP 5.1.x - Kona Driver versions 3.1 through 3.4 (Tiger OS compatible versions)
FCP 5.0.x - Kona Driver version 3 (first Universal Binary version)
Special Note Regarding ProRes 422:
Capturing HD resolution ProRes 422 from an HD source requires the use of a qualified capture card and a Mac Pro with an Intel Xeon processor or G5 Quad PCIe Power Mac. Real-time capture and transcoding of HD to ProRes 422 is not supported on other models of G5 or G4 Power Mac computers.

This release is specifically designed to support Apple's Final Cut Studio 2. Users of previous versions of Final Cut Pro should refer to the Release Notes PDF file (included in this download) for the appropriate driver version. The Release Notes PDF also contains other information on improvements, fixes and special notes. Check the AJA website for an updated version 4.0 manual to be released soon.

This version adds support for 1080p23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30. Enhanced ability to download a graphic into the downstream keyer (DSK) frame buffer—plus other improvements to existing features. Note: this release requires Final Cut Pro 5.1 (minimum). A revised KONA 3 manual is also available for version 3.4: KONA 3 User Manual (PDF, 5/8/07), Version 3.4 Software.
KONA 3 Additional Easy Setups (ZIP archive) for Final Cut Pro version 5 and KONA Driver software version 3.4 or newer (required)
These setups are not supplied on the currently shipping KONA installation CD. These Easy Setups provide support for 1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080p25, 1080p29.97, 1080p30, 1080p50, 1080p59.94, and 1080p60—in DVCProHD and 8-bit and 10-bit uncompressed formats.

This version adds Automator plug-ins for OS X 10.4 for batch DPX-to-QT AND QT-to-DPX translation, Rosetta applications like Adobe After Effects can now display their output thru KONA, pulldown is properly inserted now when converting from 1080psf23.98 to 525i29.97 —plus other improvements and bug fixes. Note: this release requires Final Cut Pro 5.1 (minimum).

This version adds SD-SD aspect ratio conversions, 720p25 Varicam support, 720p23.98 hardware based capture, little-endian captures in Log RGB and RGB codecs, capture to IMX50Mbps compression in NTSC and PAL, new Easy Setups—plus other improvements and bug fixes. Note: this release requires Final Cut Pro 5.1 (minimum).

This version adds new Limiter functionality to the KONA Control Panel, and installs Universal Binary versions of the DPX to QT and QT to DPX translator utilities—plus it adds other improvements and bug fixes. Note: this release requires Final Cut Pro 5.1 (minimum).

This version provides Universal Binary support for the new Intel-based Apple Mac Pro desktop computers, plus many other improvements and bug fixes.
Please Note: The Release Notes state that the DPXToQT Translator and
QTToDPX Translator applications are part of the KONA installer. They are
not included in the installer at this time, but can still be downloaded

This version has many new features including 2K format support, hardware-based cross-convert (720p to 1080i and 1080i to 720p), 96KHz audio and 16 channel audio playback/capture, contextual menus in the Control Panel, Custom LUT support, DPX file support, new utiilitiy applications, plus other improvements and bug fixes.
