What kinds of power supplies are safe to use with AJA converters?
On the HD10AM, what are the maximum cable lengths for video and audio?

Q: What kinds of power supplies are safe to use with AJA converters?
A: Only AJA factory power supplies have been tested and approved for use with AJA converters. However, you can use any 3rd-party +5Vdc power supply as long as the minimum power rating specfied in the converter's user manual is met.
Q: On the HD10AM, what are the maximum cable lengths for video and audio?
A: The SD/HD inputs are the same as any of our products—250m for SD, 100m for HD w/Belden 1694). (Those are conservative numbers; 300m/150m are typical.) The HD/SD SDI outputs are re-clocked on the HD10AM and HD10AMA. The input signal is de-serialized, processed and re-serialized—so it is a completely reconstituted signal. This means that the box can used as a jitter filter (SDI in to out will reduce jitter quite a bit). The AES cable length depends on the quality of the cable; if it's "good" 24 AWG cable, it can be run to 100 ft.
